The Research Department of the Gemological Laboratory is dedicated to developing and continuously updating a comprehensive gemstone database, with a strong focus on origin determination studies. The department also conducts advanced analytical research, including the calibration and standardization of LIBS samples to ensure accuracy and reliability in elemental analysis.

A state-of-the-art gemology laboratory is characterized by its use of advanced, often automated analytical technologies for identification, authenticity verification, treatment detection, and origin determination of gemstones (Diamond & Gemstones)
